Thoughts on growth, healing, and the in-between
Growth Doesn’t Always Feel Like Growth:
A reflection on change, uncertainty, and becoming

Many people come to counselling feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where they are in life. It can be difficult to recognize growth when it doesn’t look or feel the way we expect.
Sometimes, growth feels like confusion. Sometimes, it feels like loss. And often, it feels like being in-between—no longer who you were, but not yet who you’re becoming.

There are moments in this journey when everything feels uncertain. What once fit no longer does, and what comes next is still unclear. That in-between space can feel uncomfortable, even painful. But something important is happening there.

Just as the caterpillar rests in the stillness of the cocoon, you, too, may be changing in ways you can not yet see. Parts of you are softening, others are strengthening, and something new is quietly taking shape.

Pain may appear along the way. It is never easy, but it can carry the seeds of growth—not because you are meant to suffer, but because you are capable of becoming more than you were before.
Take your time. Healing does not rush. It unfolds slowly, through moments of clarity and moments of doubt. And one day, you may look back and realize that what felt like falling apart was actually the beginning of your becoming.
If you are moving through a season of uncertainty or change, you don’t have to do it alone. Counselling can offer a space to explore what is emerging, and how to navigate the in-between with support.
