Credentials and Scope of Practice

Professional Credentials & Professional Standing

I am an Registered Professional Counsellor-Provisional with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association and a Counselling Practitioner Candidate with the Canadian College of Professional Counselling Practitioners, providing supportive mental health counselling and coaching services for adults navigating emotional and life challenges.

As an RPC-Provisional & CCPCPR-Candidate I work under clinical supervision with an experienced senior counsellor. Supervision is an important part of my practice and supports ongoing professional development, ethical care, and thoughtful client support, and always in accordance with strict attention to client confidentiality standards.

My Approach

My work is centred on helping clients develop practical coping strategies, strengthen emotional regulation, and build resilience and clarity in everyday life. I also provide psychoeducation to support a better understanding of stress, emotions, and adjustment processes in an accessible and grounded way.

My approach is collaborative and client-centred, drawing from trauma-informed principles, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) skills, and person-centred counselling. The focus is on supportive, skills-based work that promotes meaningful and sustainable change rather than diagnosis or psychotherapy.

Scope of Practice

My scope of practice is limited to mental health counselling services. I do not provide medical or psychiatric services, including diagnosis of mental health disorders, prescription or management of medication, or crisis or emergency intervention.

 What I Can Help With

In our work together, I may support you with:

  • Stress, overwhelm, and burnout

  • Anxiety-related symptoms (such as worry, tension, or racing thoughts)

  • Low mood, motivation challenges, or life transitions

  • Emotional regulation and coping strategies

  • Relationship and communication challenges

  • Building resilience and practical life skills

  • Psychoeducation to better understand thoughts, emotions, and stress responses

My approach is supportive, collaborative, and focused on helping you feel more equipped to manage day-to-day challenges.

What My Services Are Not

  • I do not diagnose mental health conditions

  • I do not provide medical or psychiatric treatment

  • I do not replace care from psychologists, physicians, or psychiatrists

  • I do not provide psychotherapy as defined under regulated health professions

If your needs fall outside my scope, I will help connect you with appropriate supports or services.

How I Work

Sessions may include:

  • Talk-based counselling and reflective conversation

  • Coping strategies and practical tools

  • Psychoeducation to support understanding and insight

  • Skills for emotional regulation and stress management

  • Goal-setting and personal development support

The focus is on support, understanding, and practical change rather than clinical treatment or diagnosis.

Important to Know

If you are experiencing significant mental health concerns, complex trauma, or needs requiring clinical treatment, I may recommend additional support from a regulated healthcare provider.

Working Together

My goal is to provide a safe, respectful, and supportive space where you can:

  • Talk openly about what you’re experiencing

  • Build tools to manage life more effectively

  • Move toward greater clarity, stability, and well-being

If this speaks to where you are right now, I’m here to support you when you’re ready.
