Meet your Counsellor

About me

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working in healthcare. During that time, I had the privilege of walking alongside people through some of life’s most difficult and uncertain moments. While every story was different, one thing remained the same: people wanted to feel heard, understood, and cared for.

Those experiences stayed with me. Over time, I realized I was drawn not only to supporting people’s health, but also to supporting the emotional side of what they were carrying. That realization led me to counselling.

Life doesn’t fit neatly into categories, and neither do the reasons people come to counselling. You might be feeling overwhelmed by stress or anxiety, struggling in a relationship, adjusting to a new stage of life, navigating parenthood or caregiving, working through family dynamics, questioning your direction, or simply feeling like you’ve lost touch with yourself. Whatever brings you here, my door is open.

I also have a special interest in supporting people living with chronic illness, disability, or the lasting impact of breast cancer. These experiences often affect much more than our health. They can shape our sense of identity, our relationships, our independence, and the way we see the future. Through both my professional experience and own personal understanding, I have developed a deep appreciation for the resilience these journeys require.

When we meet, I want you to feel like you’re sitting with another person, not someone trying to “fix” you or tell you who you should be. My role is to listen with curiosity, ask thoughtful questions, and help you make sense of what you’re carrying. Together, we’ll explore what feels important to you and discover small steps forward that reflect your strengths, values, and what matters most.

For clients who wish, I also offer counselling that thoughtfully integrates Christian faith and personal values into our conversations. Your faith and personal beliefs are an important part of your story, and they can be explored as part of our work together when that feels meaningful to you.

Why “Rising Tide”?

The name "Rising Tide Counselling" reflects something I have come to believe through both my professional work and my own life experiences.

Like the tide, growth often happens gradually. It’s not always easy to see in the moment, but with time, patience, and support, even small shifts can create meaningful change.

Rising Tide Counselling was created with that belief in mind. You don’t have to change everything overnight. Sometimes the smallest shifts of feeling heard, understanding yourself a little better, or taking one step forward, can begin to change the way you experience your life.

Sometimes healing begins with one honest conversation, one new perspective, or simply knowing you don’t have to carry everything by yourself.

I’m really glad you’re here, and if you feel ready, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.
